MKMEA Virtual Conference, October 23, 2021, starting at 1:00 pm, CDT
Join us for inspiring addresses on "Moving Forward Together" and breakout room / Happy Hour sessions with fellow educators and musicians.
Andrea Solya - Make it relevant, make it your own, make it joyful
We will explore why the Kodály concept is more relevant today than ever and how we can all find beauty and joy in always adapting and molding the tools to what our students need.
Darlene Machacon - Questioning Going “Back to Normal”: Breaking Barriers with SEL
SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) has been pushed to the forefront of music education as a way to “rescue” students from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. This session will discuss the various barriers a traditional music education can have for students of all identities and challenge the ways that mainstream education has pushed for more SEL in today’s lessons.
