The MKMEA Honor Choir is a special opportunity to participate in a singing ensemble with other developing musicians whose teachers who also use the Kodály approach in their classrooms. The choir runs concurrent with a professional conference for educators and much of the information on this website is also for teacher attendees and their conference sessions.
Use the Conference Menu to learn more about the hotel, travel, host city, and other conference details. Keep in mind that the conference is for music educators and the honor choir is one special aspect of the conference. Choir-specific information will also be emailed to you from the choir committee.

Honor Choir Information
Honor Choir Registration:
Eligible Students: unchanged treble voices, entering grades 5-8 for the 2024-2025, recommended by teacher
Parents: Please fill out a digital registration for each singer. Registration will close May 15, 2024. You will receive notification of your acceptance by May 22 , 2024. At that time, if accepted, please submit the $140 registration payment via the MKMEA website.
Teachers: Please fill out the Honor Choir Teacher Form (one form per teacher). Teachers will be notified of their student(s) acceptance by May 22, 2024. The honor choir will be limited to 100 singers.

Scholarship Information
The Midwestern Division of OAKE is pleased to offer financial assistance for select honor choir participants. To be considered for a MKMEA scholarship, both the nominating teacher and the singer/guardian must complete the appropriate forms. If you have been selected as a scholarship recipient, you will be notified along with your acceptance to the choir. Scholarship awards amounts may vary.
